Shamed ex-Arsenal star Marc Overmars was nicknamed ‘horny cousin’ amid claims he sent Ajax colleagues X-rated pics

DISGRACED Marc Overmars was reportedly nicknamed the ‘horny cousin’ by his former Ajax colleagues before his departure from the club.

The Dutchman left his role as sporting director last weekend after it emerged he sent a series of ‘inappropriate messages’ to female colleagues.

It’s claimed the former Arsenal and Barcelona winger repeatedly sent unsolicited x-rated pictures over a prolonged period of time.

And Dutch newspaper NRC claims the women subjected to Overmars’ disgusting behaviour branded him a ‘horny cousin’.

One of the women said: “As a woman at Ajax you have to have a double layer of skin. If you don’t have that, she turns against you.

Another said: “It’s a huge power relationship. If you don’t accept it, you will leave very quickly.”

And a third claimed ‘sexism is in the club culture’.

An ‘ashamed’ Overmars apologised for his behaviour in a statement, which read: “Last week I was confronted with reports about my behaviour and how this has come across to others.

Ajax’s supervisory board chairman Leen Meijaard was shocked by the behaviour of Overmars, who he described as ‘the best football director that Ajax has had.’

He said: “It is devastating for the women who have had to deal with the behaviour.

“When we heard the news of this, we immediately acted, carefully deliberating and weighing what was the best thing to do.”

“Unfortunately, he has really gone over the line, so continuing as director was not an option, as he recognised himself. It is extremely painful for everyone.”

Ajax have yet to publicly respond to their employee’s fresh claims of a culture of ‘sexism’ being present at the club.
