Man Utd legend Roy Keane teased by people of Woodbridge over Ipswich sacking after bad review of town

ROY KEANE has come under fire from the residents of a town in Suffolk after he dismissed suggestions that it was a good place to live.

The Irishman claimed Woodbridge – where he resided when managing Ipswich -was only good to visit but not to live.

When discussing his time spent in Woodbridge by a Sunday Times reporter who suggested the town was a nice place to live, Keane scoffed: “For a holiday weekend in summer, maybe.”

His brutal response prompted an impassioned rebuttal from residents from the town who implied that Keane’s critique of Woodbridge was clouded by his harsh time in Ipswich’s dugout.

One resident retorted, reported by the East Anglian Daily Times: “It is a lovely place to visit.

“All visitors are welcome, but it is also the most lovely place to live as so many people are finding out who have moved here.

“Perhaps he was having a bad time while he was living here.”

The 50-year-took up residence in the town of Woodbridge while he was managing Ipswich for the 2009/10 season.

Keane’s reign at Ipswich was brought to a swift end after he could only lead the League One side to 28 wins in 81 games.

The former Man United midfielder’s ill-fated time with the Tractor Boys is something he’d like to leave firmly in the past – along with the memories of the house that he splashed £3million on which sits on three acres and overlooks the River Deben.
