Agent Mino Raiola, 54, forced to deny having emergency surgery after being put to sleep in hospital for ‘medical checks’

AGENT Mino Raiola has been forced to deny having emergency surgery after undergoing what he described as ‘medical checks that needed anaesthesia’.

Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport had claimed the super-agent, 54, was rushed to San Raffaele hospital in Milan for surgery.

But Raiola – who represents the likes of Paul Pogba, Erling Haaland and Zlatan Ibrahimovic – put out a statement to deny the incredible claims.

A post from his official Twitter account read: “Mino Raiola is undergoing ordinary medical checks that require anaesthesia.

“All was planned and no emergency surgery happened.”

It’s not yet known what procedure Raiola underwent.

The agent – who oversees some of the world’s biggest names – recently proposed SCRAPPING transfer fees.

Raiola famously made £20m in agent fees as part of the deal taking Pogba back to Manchester United in 2016.

The Italian-born Dutchman was left furious by Fifa’s plans to publish new agent regulations which could limit spending on representative fees.

Under the proposal, agent fees could be capped at 10 per cent of any transfer fee and three per cent of a player’s salary for contract negotiations.

An angry Raiola lashed out at the plans, saying: “I don’t take it. An agent must earn as much as possible for the player.

“What will be higher with this plan? The transfer fee or the salary?

“In fact, Fifa is saying that they do not go against the transfer fees, but against the salaries.

“The negotiating position of the players is thus compromised.

“Abolish the transfer fee. Then we will only talk about salaries.

“The whole system is wrong. It was invented by people who have no knowledge of the profession.”
