Rangnick ‘wants to overhaul Man Utd squad with three transfers including Haaland and Werner while SEVEN stars at risk’

RALPH RANGNICK wants to completely overhaul his Manchester United side with THREE major signings, according to reports.

The German was officially appointed as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s replacement earlier this week and has been getting his claws into his under-performing squad.

But according to reports, the former Leipzig boss wants to increase United’s firepower by bringing BOTH Erling Haaland and Timo Werner to Old Trafford.

That’s according to Bild, who claim the 63-year-old will look to use his relationship with Haaland’s father – Alfe-Inge – to try to secure his services.

Rangnick knows Haaland well having been sporting director at Red Bull Salzburg during the 21-year-old’s breakthrough season in the winter of 2019.

The United chief will also reportedly look to utilise his relationship with the struggling Werner- who he coached during his two spells in charge of Leipzig – to prise him from Chelsea’s clutches.

In addition to signing Haaland and Werner, Rangnick is said to be keen on landing Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara.

Rangnick is reportedly planning wholesale changes to the squad he recently inherited.

And it’s claimed SEVEN players could potentially be on the chopping block.

Veterans Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani and Nemanja Matic are allegedly at risk of being ushered out of the door.

And Paul Pogba and David de Gea will reportedly be allowed to leave the club.

It’s also been suggested England internationals Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw could also leave if they don’t agree new contracts.

Rangnick has inherited an under-performing Manchester United side who are currently toiling in eighth place in the Premier League table.

But the veteran manager is relishing the difficult challenge ahead of him.

He said: “I am excited to be joining Manchester United and focused on making this a successful season for the club.

“The squad is full of talent and has a great balance of youth and experience.

“All my efforts for the next six months will be on helping these players fulfil their potential, both individually and, most importantly, as a team.

“Beyond that, I look forward to supporting the club’s longer-term goals on a consultancy basis.”

Rangnick, however, won’t be in the dugout for United’s next match.

The German is currently awaiting a work permit and as such isn’t allowed to carry out his duties.

He will, however, be permitted to watch at Old Trafford for the club’s next match so long as he returns a negative Covid test.

The first unofficial game of the Rangnick era will see United welcome Arsenal to the Theatre of Dreams on Thursday night.

He could then be in the dressing room on Sunday when United host Crystal Palace.
