‘Doesn’t care’ – Oleksandr Usyk reacts to Anthony Joshua getting new trainer for rematch fight next year

OLEKSANDR USYK ‘doesn’t care’ that Anthony Joshua is looking for a new trainer ahead of their rematch.

The Ukrainian left London with AJ’s unified heavyweight titles in September after a 12 round masterclass.

Joshua has since invoked his right to an immediate rematch, which looks set to take place before the end of April.

The British superstar has been spending time in America, looking to potentially add a trainer to his coaching team.

But the news has not affected the newly crowned champion, according to his promoter Alexander Krassyuk.

Asked on Instagram if Usyk, 34, had heard AJ was looking for a new trainer, Krassyuk replied: “He has. He’s said he doesn’t care.”

Joshua, 32, is trained by Rob McCracken, the man who led him to Olympic gold and two unified heavyweight title reigns.

But he appears open to the idea of strengthening his camp and visited Canelo Alvarez’s coach Eddy Reynoso, Virgil Hunter and Robert Garcia.

Mike Tyson’s former trainer Ronnie Shields was also another experienced cornerman Joshua was captured training with.

Tyson, 55, himself has even opened the door to taking Joshua under his wing.

He replied: “That’d be an honour. Not to fight, but to help each other – that’d be awesome.

“He has so much potential, he should not be depressed. Him and (Deontay) Wilder should not be depressed and give up on the world.”
