Man Utd star Van de Beek trolled by ex-Everton ace Van der Meyde over baby name after pregnancy announcement

MANCHESTER UNITED midfielder Donny van de Beek has been mocked by former Everton man Andy van der Meyde after announcing he and his wife are expecting their first child.

The Red Devils outcast revealed the news on Thursday morning alongside a picture of him and his partner Estelle Bergkamp – the daughter of legendary Arsenal and Holland forward Dennis Bergkamp.

Van de Beek said: “Happy to announce that we’re expecting a little one.”

But ex-Toffees man Van der Meyde made fun of the announcement by asking his fellow countryman if he was going to name the baby after his current boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He posted: “Congratulations, will the name be Ole Gunnar?,” followed by a laughing/crying emoji and a love heart.

Meanwhile, Van de Beek’s wife Estelle replied to her husband’s picture by saying: “Grateful to experience this with you.”

A number of Van de Beek’s teammates also posted congratulatory messages to him via Instagram.

Jesse Lingard simply said: “Congrats brother.”

And Marcus Rashford added: “Congratulations bro.”

Van de Beek has not enjoyed his football since arriving at Old Trafford in the summer of 2020.

The 24-year-old was sensational for Ajax during their run to the Champions League semi-finals two years ago.

But following his £35million move to Man Utd he has struggled to make any sort of impact, being used largely as a bit-part player.

In 40 appearances under Solskjaer, Van de Beek has scored just one goal and watched the likes of Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba, Fred and Nemanja Matic get picked ahead of him.

A lack of game time since joining last summer has seen him persistently linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

And that could even be as soon as January with Spanish giants Barcelona reportedly keen to end his Red Devils nightmare.
