JADON SANCHO is a victim of the current Manchester United team and does not deserve to be blamed for his difficult start, according to club legend Gary Neville.
The Red Devils suffered yet another dismal result on Saturday as they were beaten 4-2 by Leicester – their third successive Premier League game without a win.
Sancho was hooked in the 65th minute after an uninspiring performance on the left wing, with his replacement Marcus Rashford scoring eight minutes from the end of the game.
The ex-Borussia Dortmund man has now played 10 games for Man Utd in all competitions and is yet to register a single goal or assist.
But Neville does not believe it is right to lay the blame at the 21-year-old’s door during this tough period for the team.
Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: “Sancho at this moment, he’s a victim of the current performances of the team.
“You’d like a player like that to come into a settled unit and he’s just still finding his feet.
“I did think he played well in the last 20 minutes against Everton a couple of weeks ago.
“He shouldn’t be the focus point of any criticism at this moment in time.
“Of course you’re going to get criticism as a United player signed for that level of money but again that would be a distraction.”
Man Utd dropped to sixth following their loss at the King Power Stadium as both Brighton and Tottenham leapfrogged them in the Premier League table.
Things are not going to get any easier for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side as they head into a series of incredibly tough games.
United face Atalanta twice within a fortnight and also take on Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City before the next international break.
And Solskjaer hinted after the defeat to Leicester that he may decide to shake things up with his team selection.
He said: “Lately we have not been in great form – lost too many points and that is something we have to look at.
“We might have to change – do we need more legs in there? What do we need?
“I pick the team, Harry Maguire showed no reaction and I hold my hand up if that does not work out. If we concede four, I probably made a bad decision.

“When you look at the game after, the four goals we conceded were poor. The way we played we don’t deserve to continue that [away unbeaten] run.
“I have got many good players – Fred, Edinson Cavani, you miss them.
“I am not making excuses for the team I put out there – they are top footballers and we have not produced.”
