Man City 0 Southampton 0: Misfiring City held by Saints as VAR rescues Walker and late Foden winner is denied

MANCHESTER CITY lost ground on Premier League leaders Liverpool with an underwhelming performance against Southampton – in which they had ONE shot on target.

The defending Premier League champions were held to a 0-0 draw at the Etihad by a resilient and well-drilled Saints side.

Guardiola’s galacticos left their shooting boots in the dressing room before kick-off as they were woeful in front of goal.

City failed to hit the target with any of their shots in the first half, much to the frustration of the Etihad faithful.

And they were lucky not to pay for their poor finishing just after the hour mark when referee Jon Moss overturned his decision to award a penalty and send off Kyle Walker.

Try as they might, Kevin de Bruyne and Jack Grealish couldn’t create an opening for the Citizens.

England international Phil Foden thought he’d secured a stoppage-time winner for the home side in the 91st minute.

But the boy wonder saw his goal ruled out for offside thanks to his team-mate Raheem Sterling

City are currently three points adrift off top spot following their second draw of the season.

Guardiola’s troops will be back in action on Tuesday night, welcoming Wycombe Wanderers to the Etihad for their Carabao Cup third-round tie.
