PREMIER LEAGUE clubs will have to make do without a number of top players this weekend after a South American travel fiasco.
Countries including Brazil, Argentina and Colombia are on the UK’s red list for travel, leading to a number of stars staying at home for this month’s World Cup qualifiers.
The decision led to anger in the South American associations, some of which have imposed a five-day ban on the players appearing for their clubs.
Brazil are the latest to impose the Fifa guideline after similar rulings from Mexico, Paraguay and Chile.
Argentina, meanwhile, have not taken the measure but the troop of players who travelled across the Atlantic to play must quarantine on their return anyway.
The countries involved mean a considerably talented line-up of players can be made from the missing men.
The eight Brazilians unavailable are Thiago Silva of Chelsea, Liverpool’s Fabinho, Alisson Becker and Roberto Firmino, Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus and Ederson, Raphinha of Leeds, and Manchester United’s Fred.
The decision on who should be banned until midnight on Tuesday was left with Brazilian national team bosses.

Everton striker Richarlison was not included and can face Burnley on Monday night.
His omission may be based on the Toffees allowing the player to be part of Brazil’s Olympic squad during the summer.
Also unavailable due to the five-day suspension is Newcastle winger Miguel Almiron, ahead of the Toon’s trip to Old Trafford.
Emi Martinez and Emi Buendia will only return for Aston Villa once they have flown home via Croatia, a green list country.
Tottenham are set to fine Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero for absconding to Argentina duty, which even saw their match with Brazil dramatically cancelled due to a pandemic dispute.
Colombian defender Davinson Sanchez has also landed himself in hot water after featuring in World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Paraguay.
