The Manchester Evening News claim the deal is reportedly worth around £750,000 and will see the player link up with Rangers’ B team first.

Speaking to Rangers’ official website, McCann admitted he made the decision to leave Old Trafford in search of first-team football.

He said: “I’m delighted to get the move over the line, I was obviously really excited when I heard the news and I knew that it was a no brainer.

“I can’t wait to get started now and I’m looking forward to it.

“It’s just unreal [Ibrox] it’s such a great experience and I can’t wait to see what it will be like when there is a full house of fans!

“I feel like I’ve gotten to the point where I need the next step and this is the best option for me to make that and hopefully push myself to get nearer the first team.

“The staff here and the people that I spoke to me made it clear their intentions and everything that they said interested me so much.”

McCann spent four seasons at United after joining the club at the age of 16 and scored five goals during 20 appearances for the club’s U23s.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard had marked the Republic of Ireland Under-18 international as a strong talent prior to him signing a three-year deal.

As per The Scotsman ahead of the move, Gerrard said: “We’re certainly aware of Charlie McCann – he’s a really good talent, a strong talent.

“It is close, but there’s nothing to report really.

“It will be a B-team signing but, as a management team, if it happens we will follow him really closely and analyse where he’s at. Once he’s ready for an opportunity, it will certainly present itself.”
