NEYMAR was left in tears after losing to Argentina in the Copa America final – but thankfully had Lionel Messi on hand to cheer him up.
The Brazil icon had a chance to make history by winning the tournament at the Maracana but Messi and Co got the better of him.
A single Angel Di Maria goal was enough to secure a 1-0 victory for Argentina, who ended a 28-year wait for silverware.
And although Messi was thrilled with the outcome and celebrated by being thrown into the air by his team-mates, he still found time to console Neymar.
The pair embraced surrounded by players, media and officials before Messi went to lift the trophy.
Afterwards, Messi sat with his former Barcelona teammate with his winners’ medal around his neck.
And he was able to cheer up Neymar, cracking a joke which had the Brazilian laughing.
Messi knows all too well what it is like to be in Neymar’s position having lost in the Copa America final in both 2015 and 2016.
The Argentine also lost in the 2014 World Cup final after Mario Gotze scored an extra-time winner for Germany.

But now the 34-year-old has answered critics who questioned his lack of success in the international arena.
Apart from the World Cup, Messi has now won every major tournament available to him.
Neymar’s wait for silverware with Brazil will continue but at 29 he will be hopeful that his time will come soon.
