One in four England fans believe IT’S COMING HOME – but nearly two thirds fear Germany will dump us out of Euro 2020

ONE in four England fans think football is coming home this summer – but nearly TWO-THIRDS reckon a Germany KO is the most-likely scenario.

The Three Lions rose to the top of Group D with 1-0 wins over Croatia and Czech Republic, while picking up a point against stubborn Scotland.

Nearly a quarter of SunSport readers think England will win Euro 2020 – but close to two-thirds say it’s a last-16 KO

Confidence will be high in Gareth Southgate’s squad after topping the group without conceding a single goal.

But clinching top spot means a last-16 tie with the Group of Death runners-up Germany.

England take on their bitter rivals on Tuesday, with kick-off 5pm.

And a staggering 58.5 per cent of more than 7,000 SunSport readers believe the Three Lions will LOSE against Germany to crash out at the last-16 stage.

Should England beat the Germans, they will take on the winner of Sweden vs Ukraine in the quarter-finals.

Only 1.8 per cent of readers reckon that will be England’s downfall, with 7.2 per cent believing the semi-final will be as far as Southgate will take his squad.

And while 7.9 per cent of supporters think we’re destined to lose in the final, there are still some optimistic fans out there.

A chunky 24.5 per cent of SunSport readers reckon England will go all the way and finally bring football home after 55 years of hurt.

England have played Germany SEVEN times in major tournaments down the years.

Bobby Moore and Co famously won the 1966 World Cup final at Wembley 4-2 after extra-time, but lost in the quarters 3-2 just four years later.

The two footballing powerhouses drew 0-0 in the second group stage at the 1982 World Cup, while England lost on penalties in the Italia 90 semis.

Current boss Southgate infamously missed in the Euro 96 shootout as Germany progressed to the final, before England got their revenge with 1-0 group stage win four years later.

Most-recently, England lost 4-1 in the last-16 of the 2010 World Cup, best-remembered for Frank Lampard’s controversially disallowed goal.
