Kevin-Prince Boateng completes Hertha Berlin transfer as journeyman makes 16th move of his career

KEVIN-PRINCE BOATENG has returned to his boyhood club Hertha Berlin in what is remarkably the 16th transfer move of his career.

The former Ghanaian international is heading back to the Bundesliga side more than a decade after he left Hertha to join Tottenham.

Boateng, 34, unveiled the news at the same time as Hertha’s official Twitter account on Wednesday.

He simply tweeted: “I’m back!”

And Sky Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano also confirmed the transfer by adding: “Done deal. Former Barcelona striker Kevin Prince Boateng joins Hertha Berlin and he’s back in Bundesliga, official statement confirms.”

Boateng came through the youth set-up at Hertha before breaking through into the first team in 2005.

He would go on to play 52 times for the German side, netting five times before departing in 2007.

Boateng spent the 2020-21 campaign in Serie B – the second tier of Italian football – with Monza.

He played 25 times for the Lombardy-based side, scoring five goals before his one-year deal expired at the end of the season.

Among his other notable spells include an indifferent time with Tottenham and a more successful time at Portsmouth.
