James Rodriguez ‘ready to quit Everton and has been offered transfer escape by Atletico Madrid, Napoli and AC Milan’

EVERTON playmaker James Rodriguez is reportedly looking to depart the club after just one year spent at Goodison Park.

The 29-year-old, who is tied down in Merseyside until 2022, is facing an uncertain future following Carlo Ancelotti’s return to Real Madrid.

Rodriguez declared in April how it was only the lure of the Italian gaffer that made him join Everton ahead of Atletico Madrid.

And despite Everton prepared to hand the ex-Bayern Munich loanee another contract, it appears the midfielder is seeking a summer exit.

According to the Daily Mail, Rodriguez – left out of Colombia’s Copa America squad – is ready to leave Everton with his agent Jorge Mendes contacting potential suitors.

Former side Los Blancos have been credited with an interest, though it is unlikely that Rodriguez will be reunited with Ancelotti for a fourth time.

The news outlet stated that LaLiga champions Atletico have been offered the chance to sign Rodriguez, as well as Serie A clubs Napoli and AC Milan.

Rodriguez remained coy over his future earlier this month where he insisted he is open to staying at Everton.

Asked whether he could return to Real to play under Ancelotti, he said: “I don’t know. I think not…. If I stay another year [at Everton] that’s fine.

“I don’t think Ancelotti is going to take me. The cycle for me with Real Madrid is closed.”

Another player that could potentially be sold by Everton is star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

SunSport revealed how Ancelotti put the England international on his shortlist after he banged in 21 goals during the 2020-21 campaign.

And now Arsenal have been linked with a move for the ex-Sheffield United centre-forward.

According to The Telegraph, the Gunners will press ahead with a move for the Toffees star should they trim their squad down.
