TYSON FURY has already banked two rounds of his trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder thanks to his performance at their pre-fight press conference.
Fury, 32, went face-to-face with The Bronze Bomber last Tuesday for the first time since battering him in their Las Vegas rematch in February 2020.
Wilder, 35, adopted a code of silence, leaving Fury to carry the presser with his pre-fight digs and predictions.
And legendary boxing coach Buddy McGirt believes The Gypsy King’s demeanour has given him an early advantage over the American.
He told Fight Hype: “He’s won the first two rounds already just by being like that. It matters a whole lot.
“All the great fighters you see, they’re the ones that are the most calm, the most relaxed.
“You see everything, you do everything, but when you tense and you’re trying to kill the guy, they just pick you apart.”
McGirt, 57, reckons Wilder needs to adopt a calmer approach to his third encounter with the WBC king.
He said of the Olympian: “He’s so caught up in getting revenge that he’s burning a lot of necessary energy mentally.
“I think what he should do is when he goes into the fight, don’t go into it with ‘I’m going to kill him’ attitude.
“Go into it ‘I’m going to beat him,’ but you’ve got to be smart about it.
“You can’t go in there, ‘I’m going to crush him, I’m going to do this, I’m going to do that.’
“Tyson Fury is always relaxed, he’s always calm in a fight, and the calmest fighter is always the better fighter.”
Fury and Wilder will renew their rivalry on July 24 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
And Fury plans to bulldoze the American even earlier than he did last time out.
He said: “I gave my game plan away the first time because he wasn’t good enough to do anything about it.
“And I’ll do the same thing this time because he’s not good enough to do anything about it.
“Deontay Wilder is a one-trick pony. He’s got one-punch power, we all know that – great.
“Because before, I only had five or six weeks practicing what I’m going to do to him. This time, I’ve had 18 months of practicing what I’m going to do to him.
“So I anticipate it’s going to be like an 18-wheeler running over somebody, and that’s what you’re gonna see.
“I’m building my weight up, trying to get up to 300lbs for this fight. Because I’m looking for a big knockout straight away.”
