How PSG could line up next season with Cristiano Ronaldo, Wijnaldum and Donnarumma after savvy free transfers

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN are set to refresh their squad this summer as Mauricio Pochettino attempts to compete at home and in Europe next season.

The French giants endured a difficult campaign last time out, getting off to a nightmare start after a shortened off season and struggling to recover.

They missed out on the Ligue 1 title for just the second time since 2012, but will be raring to go next time out – especially after securing canny new signings like Georginio Wijnaldum.

Pochettino, 49, arrived mid-season – with his side only producing the Argentine’s electrifying brand of football in glimpses.

But after a full off-season and transfer window, they should be well placed to improve next season.

Gianluigi Donnarumma is set to sign for the club on a five-year, £200,000-a-week deal after leaving AC Milan on a free transfer.

Serge Aurier could then return to play at right-back – despite having often had to play second fiddle at Tottenham during Pochettino’s tenure.

Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe provide a solid base at centre-back, while Juan Bernat will return from his ruptured cruciate ligament injury, having penning a new deal in March.

PSG have hijacked Barcelona’s deal for Liverpool ace Wijnaldum – who like Donnarumma arrives on a free transfer.

He could partner Marco Verratti in the middle, while in big games they may be joined by Idrissa Gueye or Leandro Paredes to form a midfield three.

Neymar finally penned a new contract last month, and will be central to Pochettino’s attacking plans.

While club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi remains bullish regarding their chances of keeping Kylian Mbappe, despite the Frenchman’s deal having just one year left to run.

Should he stay, Mbappe could play wide on the left, with Angel Di Maria on the opposite flank and Neymar as a No10.

Then Cristiano Ronaldo could arrive to spearhead a devastating attack, with his representatives having reportedly contacted PSG over making a move from Juventus.
