  • HAZARD STAY

Eden Hazard will remain at Real Madrid for the start of next season, teammate Thibaut Courtois has revealed.

The former Chelsea forward has been linked with a move back to Stamford Bridge following an awful couple of years in Spain.

But Courtois has confirmed the 30-year-old is staying at Real Madrid and tipped him to answer critics in the same way divisive star Gareth Bale did.

Speaking to Le Soir, the keeper said: “I’m 100% sure he’s staying. He doesn’t want to move. Only the Madrid press writes about the desire to leave.

“He wants to continue, play free of injuries and win titles.

“At Real Madrid there is criticism all the time and for everyone. Gareth Bale was criticized, but he won the Champions League and scored a double in the final in Kyiv.

“We all know that in Madrid there is pressure and criticism from the press and the fans. But Eden can handle that. I know him well enough to say it. He can still change everything.”

“He still wants to be an important player for Madrid and win titles.”

  • EDDING TO ELLAND ROAD

Arsenal have offered Eddie Nketiah to Leeds for £20million, according to reports.

The Gunners are willing to sell the striker who previously spent time at Elland Road on loan.

Leeds are said to be in the market for a new forward to challenge star man Patrick Bamford and have been offered Nketiah, according to FI.

And Arsenal are open to offers for the 22-year-old and Mikel Arteta is said to have sanctioned the sale.

But the North Londoners want at least £20m for their academy product.

Nketiah’s contract has a year left to run so the club are looking to cash in now.

  • MOVE DUM-ED

Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum has rejected a move to Barcelona and will join Paris Saint-Germain instead.

That is according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Wijnaldum will sign a three-year contract and will make more than double compared to what Barca offered.

Romano tweeted: “Georginio Wijnaldum has decided to join Paris Saint-Germain.

“Barcelona have NO intention to raise their bid after they agreement ready by 2 weeks and medicals planned.

“Gini is now set to accept PSG proposal until 2024 with salary more than doubled [compared to Barça bid]”

  • RASHFORD UPDATE

Manchester United ace Marcus Rashford is set to undergo surgery after the summer’s delayed Euro 2020 tournament.

Rashford has suffered shoulder as well as foot injuries and United have agreed to let him play for the Three Lions.

According to the Daily Mirror, the star striker is set to go under the knife as soon as England’s involvement in the competition comes to an end.

The 23-year-old, who will get surgery on his foot, is then facing a race against time to be fit for the new Premier League campaign

  • KANT DENY IT

Manchester United star Paul Pogba insists Chelsea ace N’Golo Kante deserves the Ballon d’Or.

Pogba told Eurosport: “What I would like to say to the whole world is that the ‘NG’ we have seen in recent months has always been the same.

“We talk a lot about his performances but he has always been as good as ever.

“There was no Cristiano [Ronaldo] and [Lionel] Messi in the semi-final, so it’s good to see the performances of the midfielders or even the defenders.

“I said a long time ago that it would be appropriate, if Chelsea won, for him to win the Ballon d’Or. It would be deserved too”

  • DON’T CONTE ON HIM

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy pulled the plug on Antonio Conte because his ‘unrealistic’ demands could have sent the club into financial meltdown, SunSport can exclusively reveal.

Advanced negotiations broke down between the two sides due to what Levy felt were excessive and potentially catastrophic demands from Conte.

In addition to a whopping £15million-a-year salary, the Italian manager wanted a huge war chest — believed to be in excess of £100m — for new signings.

Levy was also ‘wary’ of the ex-Chelsea boss’ reluctance to make use of the club’s academy talent

  • SANCHO WAR

Chelsea are delaying their decision on whether they will join Manchester United in the transfer war for Borussia Dortmund ace Jadon Sancho.

That is according to the Daily Express, who claim the Blues may try to swoop in for star winger Sancho.

United are holding talks with Dortmund as well as the 21-year-old’s representatives and the Red Devils appear to be firmly at the front of the queue.

The west Londoners could provide competition but manager Thomas Tuchel is yet to decide on whether he believes the England international is needed, given his attacking options.

  • SAKA INJURED

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is set to miss England’s friendly with Romania this evening.

That is according to The Athletic, who claim Saka suffered a hip injury recently.

The winger netted his first goal for the Three Lions on Wednesday’s friendly against Austria.

However, there is no indication that the 19-year-old could miss Euro 2020 this summer

  • NEED A WARD

Aston Villa are keeping tabs on Southampton star James Ward-Prowse just after agreeing a club-record £30m-plus deal to sign Norwich ace Emi Buendia.

According to The Guardian, Ward-Prowse poses as another transfer target as Villa manager Dean Smith is looking to bolster his midfield.

Smith is also eager to complete transfers as quickly as possible as he targets another season of progress.

  • ED OF THE LINE

Celtic star Odsonne Edouard is set to complete a £15million move to Leicester, despite interest from Arsenal.

That is according to The Times, who claim Edouard is likely to reunite with former Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers.

The Gunners had been linked with a move for the French striker, with the future of Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette in doubt.

However, it looks like the north Londoners may have to look elsewhere in the summer transfer window

  • NEXT MOVE

Arsenal look set to miss out on Norwich star Emi Buendia, who is close to signing with Aston Villa.

According to Football London, however, Gunners technical director Edu has turned his focus on five main transfer targets after missing out on Buendia.

To be more specific, the north Londoners wish to strengthen in five key positions in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal are keeping tabs on Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana as well as left-back Ryan Bertrand, who recently left Southampton.

Mikel Arteta will also need a new right-back if Hector Bellerin leaves and thus may move for the likes of Inter Milan star Achraf Hakimi or Norwich ace Max Aarons and Brighton player Tariq Lamptey.

Real Madrid playmaker Martin Odegaard, who spent the second half of the season on loan at the Emirates, remains a top target for the No10 position that Buendia would have filled.

And finally, Arsenal will be looking for a box-to-box midfielder with the likes of Brighton’s Yves Bissouma and Sheffield United ace Sander Berge posing as a priority

  • NEVES SAY NEVER

Manchester United have been linked with a summer swoop for Wolves ace Ruben Neves.

According to The Times, Neves poses as a transfer target for Arsenal, who are looking to boost their midfield.

However, United are closely monitoring the situation and may try to meet Wolves’ £35million asking price.

Manager Mikel Arteta’s side, though, appear to be making the first move though

  • COM AND GET HIM

Manchester United are reportedly still keeping tabs on Bayern Munich ace Kingsley Coman.

According to Bild, however, Chelsea seem to have the edge in the race for star winger Coman.

That comes down to Blues manager Thomas Tuchel’s close ties in Germany following his glittering Bundesliga career.

The France international stood out for Bayern as he amassed eight goals and 15 assists in 39 appearances this season

  • MAG-BYES

Newcastle have released 10 players, including Andy Carroll, as owner Mike Ashley takes another step towards a £300million sale of the club.

Carroll made 43 appearances across two years since returning to the Magpies.

But with just one goal in that time he did not do enough to earn a new contract and will become a free agent on June 30.

Also following Carroll out of the exit door are former Chelsea players Christian Atsu and Kyle Scott.

Owen Bailey, Ludwig Francillette, Lucas Gamblin, Florent Indalecio, George Rounsfell, Henri Saivet and Oliver Walters will also be leaving at the end of this month.

Fabian Schar, Federico Fernandez and Paul Dummett are all out of contract but do not feature on the list on the Premier League website

The Sports Direct chief, who bought the Toon in 2007, has been involved in a legal battle with the Premier League for almost eight months.

However, the likes of Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also keeping tabs on the star midfielder.

According to Marca, Atletico need to offload players if they are to make top signings due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Matteo Moretto and Marca report that the Spain international has a release clause of €150million [£128m] but the LaLiga champions are willing to let him go for far less

  • IT’S RON

Cristiano Ronaldo is holding talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a move in the summer.

That is according to AS, who report that Ronaldo has “welcomed” the approach from PSG.

The forward’s future at Juventus is uncertain following a hapless season that saw the Bianconeri giving away their Serie A crown to Inter Milan.

The 36-year-old has also been linked with a major return to Manchester United

  • VARANE UPDATE

Manchester United are facing a big obstacle in their bid to sign Real Madrid star Raphael Varane in the summer transfer window.

According to The Athletic, Real are asking more than their reported £35million release clause for Varane.

United are searching for a new defender to partner up with Harry Maguire at the back

  • SANCHO LATEST

Jonathan Woodgate is in grave danger of the axe at Bournemouth — with Scott Parker in their sights as boss.

The Cherries plan to change manager after Woodgate’s failure to get through the Championship promotion play-offs when he took over.

And Fulham chief Parker is top of the wanted list because of his past record at this level and amid growing talk that he wants a new challenge.

Parker, 40, was wanted by Bournemouth when Eddie Howe left a year ago, but they could not seal a deal as the Cottagers were in the top flight.

Now there will be a second attempt to get him and Parker may decide to move on because Fulham have gone down.
