Conor McGregor reveals training blueprint for Floyd Mayweather rematch as UFC star eyes revenge on boxing legend

CONOR MCGREGOR has revealed how he’d prepare for a potential rematch with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather.

The UFC’s poster boy locked horns with Money in a much-maligned boxing match in August 2017.

McGregor, 32, suffered a tenth-round TKO loss to the former four-weight world champion, with fatigue playing a major role in the stoppage.

And with the benefit of hindsight, The Notorious would make use of fresh attacking-minded training partners late into his sparring sessions.

During an impromptu Twitter Q&A on Sunday night, he said: “I’d have people press forward in sparring.

“Especially in the later rounds. A fresh body pressing forward for the last 4 rounds.”

Despite not having set foot inside the boxing ring since his ill-fated professional debut, McGregor is confident he’d get the better of the undefeated Mayweather.

After getting wind of Mike Tyson’s praise of his performance last March, the Irishman tweeted: “Thank you, Mike.

“And just know that for the inevitable rematch, with the knowledge I now hold of Floyd’s style, plus under the tutelage of my old school boxing coach, I will crack the puzzle, and I will beat Floyd.

“I promise my life on it.”

SunSport revealed earlier this year that preliminary talks over a second multi-million-pound showdown between the pair had taken place before The Notorious’ UFC 257 showdown with Dustin Poirier.

But defeat in his Abu Dhabi dust-up with The Diamond has temporarily scuppered the bout.

McGregor is currently gearing up a blockbuster trilogy fight with fan-favourite Poirier, who knocked him out in the second round of their January rematch.

Mystic Mac’s series decider with the pride of Lousiana will take place on July 10 and will serve as the main event of UFC 264 in Las Vegas.

The retired Mayweather, meanwhile, is preparing for an exhibition bout with YouTube star Logan Paul.

The 44-year-old will throw down with the social media phenom on June 6 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

Mayweather’s clash with the elder Paul brother has been slammed by McGregor.

And after the boxing legend clashed with Logan’s brother Jake at their first face-off, he wrote on Instagram: “Hey Leonard Ellerbe, what the f*** is Floyd at?

“The kid curled up, didn’t fight back once, and Floyd is still running around acting the tough guy.

“The kid actually just pulled this shambles of a situation Floyd is in out of the drain for him. He should thank him. It’s embarrassing!

“Pro to pro it’s embarrassing. He will not scratch $10million for this fight and he knows it. It was cancelled once already.

“The world is watching this on Twitter. He’d fight a half decent pro and command $20million upwards, yet it’s this s***.

“Whatever way you spin this, it’s sad. Fight someone for real, on your record, or f*** off mate. Slap head!”
