Man Utd face transfer battle with Ajax to sign Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana from Danish side Nordsjaelland

MANCHESTER UNITED are battling it out with Ajax in the transfer chase for Kamaldeen Sulemana, according to reports.

According to the Daily Mail, Ajax already saw a bid of £10million rejected in January.

But the Dutch giants still want to complete a deal for the teenage wide man.

Ajax director of football Marc Overmars is expected to be in Denmark on Monday to watch Nordsjaelland’s clash with Copenhagen.

The report adds that United remain very interested – as do German outfit Bayer Leverkusen.

Sulemana came through at Ghana’s Right To Dream Academy, whose owner Tom Vernon bought Nordsjaelland in 2016.

He made the switch to Europe in January 2020, signing a five-and-a-half-year deal upon turning 18 a month later.

The tricky, pacey star can play on either flank is regarded as one of the best creative talents in the Danish Superliga.

He has nine goals – including five in his last five – and six assists this season.

And the youngster made his senior international debut this term, too.

Sulemana was handed the No10 jersey at the beginning of 2020-21 when Mohammed Kudus left to join Ajax with whom he won the Eredivisie title.

And Ajax hope they can secure more business with Nordsjaelland for the player dubbed to become the best Ghanaian player since Michael Essien.

United are in the market for a new winger this summer.

They missed out on Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish last year but did spend £37m to sign teenager Amad Diallo.

However, even with the arrival of Diallo, the report suggests the Old Trafford side are keen to secure Sulemana as a safe investment.
