Man Utd fans target the WRONG Glazer as NFL insider Jay forced to deny owning club for ‘the thousandth time’ on Twitter

MANCHESTER UNITED fans misdirected their fury at the Glazers by targeting the wrong American with the same surname.

Furious Red Devils supporters have been calling for co-chairmen Joel and Avram Glazer to sell their club after 16 years amid the Super League debacle.

Raging fans protested against the mega rich US family on Sunday with more than 200 storming the Old Trafford pitch and forcing United’s game with Liverpool to be postponed.

And for the ‘thousandth time’, NFL reporter Jay Glazer was forced to remind people on Twitter that he does not own the club and is not related to the Glazer family in question.

He tweeted: “Just to be clear for the thousandth time as I woke up to all this stuff sent my way on social media.

“My family is from Brooklyn, NOT Tampa, we do NOT own Man U.

“We can’t sell bc WE DON’T OWN IT!!

“You can’t be that good a fan of them if you think an NFL Insider owns your team.”

The confusion may stem from the fact the Glazer family also own NFL side and current Super Bowl champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Jay – who has 1.2million Twitter followers – was inundated with messages asking him to sell his stake in United.

He later played up to the common mistake by jokingly posting that he had decided to sell his shares in United because the business was getting in the way of his ‘day-drinking’.

He wrote: “Ahhhh f*** it… after much consideration and many talks with my family (none).

“And due to the fact that the business is just getting in the way of my day-drinking I have, in fact, decided to sell my stake in Manchester United.

“This decision did not come easy.”

United along with the rest of the Prem’s Big Six clubs announced their plans to form a breakaway European Super League which would have seen a £4.6billion pot provided by JP Morgan.

But after an outpouring of fury at what many saw as a closed-shop money grab, all the English clubs withdrew just 48 hours after the initial announcement.

Joel Glazer issued an apology as the dirty half dozen of English clubs who were part of the ESL quickly jumped ship.

Fans have opposed the Glazers since their takeover took the club into hundreds of millions in debt and a lack of direct communication has riled supporters with Joel failing to speak straight to them since his initial 2005 MUTV interview.
