Rotund Ruiz Jr stunned the boxing world when he became world heavyweight champ after beating AJ in 2019.

He barely threatened in the rematch and later admitted he had been too interested in partying and celebrating after his shock win – while piling on more pounds.

The tubby scrapper tipped the scales at 20 stone and later admitted to wanting to ‘crawl under my bed and just hide and eat Cheerios.’

But now, Ruiz Jr looks like he means business after a video emerged on Instagram as he prepares to take on his 40-year-old opponent.

The 31-year-old appears in terrific shape as he plots his route back to becoming a boxing champion.

After weighing in at 283lbs in his Joshua rematch, Ruiz Jr is down to around 257lbs as his comeback fight against Arreola draws into view.

Should he get back into winning form, a potential showdown with Dillian Whyte is on the cards – as revealed by SunSport earlier this month.

Ruiz Jr revealed there is no secret to getting back into shape – just old fashioned hard work and healthy eating.

He told Fight Hub TV: “I’ve always been overweight and now I’ve been dropping weight normally and in the right way; by eating right, not just wearing the sauna suit, starving yourself…

“Because that’s what I used to do back in the day. But now that we’re eating the right things, we’re working on the right things, I feel amazing.

“I can do better stuff that I couldn’t do before because of my big gut, I had chi-chis, I had t**s that wouldn’t let me throw the right punches and all that.

“But now I’m more motivated, I’m more dedicated in this sport and sky’s the limit.”
