West Brom star Callum Robinson suffers vile racist abuse after scoring twice in win over Chelsea as Baggies call cops

WEST BROM have called in the cops after Callum Robinson became the latest footballer to be racially abused online.

The Baggies striker was targeted with vile monkey emojis on Instagram after his brace in their stunning 5-2 Stamford Bridge victory over Chelsea.

Robinson posted the abuse on his Instagram story, with the ‘shaking my head’ caption SMH.

West Brom have contacted West Midlands Police and issued a statement which read: “The club is appalled by the messages and will offer Callum the help and support he may require in response to the incident.

“Albion will continue to confront all forms of discrimination and will assist the authorities with their inquiries, seeking the toughest available legal punishment.

“It is deeply disturbing that scoring two goals in a football match can provoke a reaction of this kind.

“There is no room for racism. Anywhere.”

Robinson, 26, is the latest Prem victim of sick racist abuse as vile trolls have targeted players, including Manchester United trio Marcus Rashford, Anthony Marial and Fred plus Chelsea stars Reece James and  Tammy Abraham.

Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has quit social media platforms, branding them  ‘unsafe’ and called for stiffer punishments.

While the government have threatened to hit  social media companies with massive fines if they continue to fail to clamp down on the racists.

Swansea City’s Jamal Lowe was also revealed he suffered racial abuse on Instagram on Saturday.

The forward, 26, was targeted after the 1-0 Championship defeat on Friday night.

A user posted to a post with a derogatory message and two monkey emojis.

Lowe responded that there are “some serious idiots out there” when he reposted the message on his Instagram story.

The Championship club say they are “once again saddened and appalled” following the Lowe abuse.

“This is the third time in space of seven weeks where one of our players has been subjected to such abhorrent messages, and we continue to call on social media companies to go above and beyond to eradicate this appalling level of behaviour from their platforms,” a Swansea spokesperson said.

“Jamal has the full and unwavering support of everyone at the football club.”
