Medina, 21, joined the French side for just £2.7million from Talleres in his home country last summer.

And the centre-back’s performances have already grabbed the attention of Europe’s top clubs.

He has featured 17 times in Ligue 1 this season and made his debut for Argentina in their 2022 World Cup qualifying victory against Bolivia in October.

Reports in France last month suggested Man United were ‘very serious’ about landing the talent.

It was even suggested that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was ready to land him for £11m in January but was told a deal couldn’t be done during the season.

But, by the summer, the Red Devils could face major competiton from Italy for his signature.

The Daily Mail write how AC Milan have joined the race for his signature.

United are likely to outbid AC Milan but the decision could come down to the player himself.

Solskjaer is keen to sign a central defender having grown frustrated with the performances of Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly alongside Harry Maguire at the back.

United have focused on signing younger talent in recent years, with Amad Diallo finally arriving in a £37m move from Atalanta last month.
