Ronaldo was reduced to tears when he spoke about his late father during an interview with Piers Morgan.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner said: “I really don’t know my father 100 per cent.”
But his sister, Katia Aveiro, has revealed that their father always knew he would reach the top.
She shared a snap of herself with the Juventus ace as she wished him a happy 36th birthday.
Alongside it, she wrote: “I found this text saved in an old diary a month before the father went to the ‘upper floor’.
“Today I’m sad, dad is in the hospital , I’m confused and there are many unanswered questions in my head, I’m fine.
“I’m going to sing for my country, my father won’t be there to applaud me, but I know he’ll be well.
“I know he will not disappoint us and Ronaldo, everyone is happy, Cristiano will play in Europe, everyone is happy.

“Dad promised that he would see all the games, promised to prove all the things he says so many times, that he will still be the best player in the world.”
Ronaldo was bombarded with birthday messages from friends, family, fans and team-mates.
His mother Maria Dolores wrote: “Mother’s light… My good son, my example of a human being.
“Yesterday you were born and today you are 36 years old. Time has flown and yet so much has happened and has marked our lives.
“It remains for me to thank you and to witness your wonderful work in this world.”
Team-mate Cuadrado said: “Happy birthday panita, best wishes!”
Danilo shared a snap of himself with Ronaldo, with the caption: “Happy day, it’s an honor to share great moments with you.”
Ronaldo spent his 36th birthday playing in the snow with partner Georgina Rodriguez.
Despite his age, the former Real Madrid star is showing no signs of slowing down.
He is set to be offered a new contract to keep him with Juventus until he is 38.
Ronaldo has scored 19 goals in 20 appearances in the Champions League and Serie A this season.
