PATRICE EVRA has revealed Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson tipped him and Ryan Giggs to become ‘great managers’ one day.

The former Red Devils left-back, 42, has revealed he is in no hurry to enter the world of management, but is keen to have his coaching badges lined up when he is ready.

Evra returned to Man Utd after his playing days ended in 2019 to act as a trainee coach.

And he has now revealed Ferguson – who won 13 Premier League titles and two Champions League crowns among the highlights of his managerial career tipped him for greatness nearly a decade ago.

Evra said: “You know, Sir Alex Ferguson said before he retired two players would be great managers – he said Ryan Giggs, and myself.

“He said, ‘Patrice, you’ve got everything. You know how to communicate with people, you know how to drive people.’

“I am doing my coach badges. It doesn’t mean I want to be a manager straight away, I just want to have them.

“Some people think because they’ve been great players, they’re going to become great managers, but it’s false.

“You need to be humble, you need to start from zero.

“But as a manager I am zero, so I’m learning step by step – we’ll see in the future.”

While Evra is in no hurry to become a manager, Giggs took over from Louis van Gaal for four matches as interim manager in the 2013-14 season.

The Welshman won two and lost one of his four games in charge and didn’t return to management until 2018.

That year, Giggs took over as Wales manager and has won exactly half of his 24 matches in charge, helping them to qualify for this summer’s delayed European Championship.
