  • RASHFORD’S ASSESSMENT

Man Utd forward Marcus Rashford gave his post-match thoughts to BT Sport.

  • OLE SPEAKS

Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke after his sides impressive 9-0 win over Southampton: “We have been waiting for them to show the magic but that was a night they could go and enjoy.

“We haven’t had too many of those, where I can just sit down in the second half and enjoy the football.

“They enjoyed it – some good performances. We’ll get lots of confidence from a performance like this and scoring goals is always good for forwards and a team.”

Solskjaer had his say on the early red card: “You don’t really see many of those tackles around any more and I’m glad Scott [McTominay] is OK.

“It looked like a bad one when he stayed down, but he’s got away with a couple of bruises there.”

And on his two magnificant full-backs he said: “They were brilliant. Aaron kept going in there to the far post and Luke kept putting crosses in, like I asked him to do.

“It’s always hard but it’s just about getting quality balls into the box, which we did.”

  • TWITTER STORM

As Bednarek went down the tunnel, he said: “Martial said it’s not a foul!”

And other former strikers concur, both Peter Crouch and Michael Owen have weighed in on the decision.

What a game of football! What more could you want? NINE, yes NINE goals – all for ONE team.

Martial opened the scoring in the second half, smashing the ball past a helpless McCarthy.

McTominay added another shortly after with a wonderful effort from the edge of the penalty area.

Bednarek conceded a penalty on minute 85, denying Martial of a goalscoring opportunity – Mike Dean went over to the monitor before giving the defender his marching orders.

Fernandes hopped, skipped and added United’s seventh.
