Man Utd boss Solskjaer tells Marcus Rashford to run at Cedric because Arsenal left-back ‘can’t defend’

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER was heard telling Marcus Rashford to take on Cedric Soares during United’s 0-0 draw with Arsenal – because he ‘can’t defend’.

Several journalists heard Solskjaer’s damning touchline comments and were quick to tweet them.

It is unclear whether the United boss was talking about Cedric, as he may have been instructing Rashford to attack left-winger Gabriel Martinelli.

Either way, it is hardly a glowing recommendation of Arsenal’s defence.

Cedric, a natural right-back, was filling in for Kieran Tierney, who has a calf injury.

The 29-year-old has made just 19 appearances in all competitions since joining the Gunners from Southampton in January 2020.

But he got the job done against United, who are now three points behind Manchester City having played a game more.

City recorded a narrow 1-0 victory against bottom club Sheffield United earlier om Saturday.

Tierney is a big miss for Arsenal at the moment having received praise from former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The 23-year-old joined the Gunners from Celtic for £25m in August 2019.

His understudy Sead Kolasinac was allowed to re-join Schalke on loan at the beginning of the transfer window.

Arsenal have been linked with Southampton left back Ryan Bertrand, although they are unlikely to sign him in January.
