Ex-Liverpool star Dirk Kuyt leaves fans gobsmacked with dramatic new look aged 40 after ditching iconic blonde curls

LIVERPOOL icon Dirk Kuyt has left fans gobsmacked after an incredible transformation aged 40.

The Kop idol has ditched his iconic blonde curls and clean-shaven look in favour of a sleek, trendy hairstyle and even some designer stubble.

His appearance on Dutch television left viewers staggered, with some even saying he looks like a reality TV star now.

Kuyt divorced wife of 17 years, Gertrude, last summer saying he was ‘looking for peace’.

And one viewer joked: “Dirk was given the hair dryer in the divorce.”

Another suggested he’d turned hipster, tweeting: “Dirk the barista / beer brewer / veggie sausage seller in a food truck…”

A third wrote: “Dirq Kuyt (the hipster version of Dirk Kuyt).”

Kuyt left Liverpool after six years of service – in which he scored 71 goals in 286 games – in 2012 to join Fenerbahce.

Three years in Turkey and a quick return to former club Feyenoord followed, before he retired after a stint at amateur side Quick Boys in 2018.

Kuyt has steered clear of football ever since.

But he has been linked with a return in recent years.

In 2019, Kuyt was rumoured to be interested in taking over League One crisis-club Bolton.

And last summer, along with Henrik Larsson, he was linked with a joint-managerial role at Feyenoord.

Kuyt helped Liverpool win the League Cup in 2011-12, having led them to the Champions League final in 2006-07.

The Dutch legend scored in the 2-1 defeat to AC Milan two years on from the Miracle of Istanbul.

Kuyt also one top-flight title honours in Holland, with Feyenoord, and Turkey, while at Fenerbahce.
