Harry Kane ankle injury could wreck Spurs’ Premier League hope as stats reveal impact hitman has on Jose Mourinho’s side

HARRY KANE is set to miss six weeks with an ankle injury, with the stats reiterating what a major blow this is for Tottenham Hotspur.

The Lilywhites have been heavily reliant on their star man and the way he’s linked up with strike partner Son Heung-min.

Kane, 27, has started every Premier League match this season – scoring 12 goals and assisting a further 11.

But while Spurs still possess firepower in Son, Gareth Bale, Carlos Vinicius and, for now, Dele Alli, history suggests that they will struggle.

In the 215 matches Kane has played in the top flight since becoming a mainstay in the 2014-15 season, Spurs possess an impressive 56.3 per cent win rate.

But in the 32 games without him, this figure drops significantly to 43.8 per cent.

It’s a similar story when it comes to goals scored.

With the England captain, Tottenham have bagged 1.9 goals-per-game – compared to just 1.3 without him.

They’ve picked up 1.9 points with Kane compared to 1.6 without – and also register marginally fewer shots at 14.9 to 14.3.

Spurs have an initial 11 games scheduled in the next six weeks, culminating in the North London derby against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on March 13.

In the meantime, they face tricky Premier League assignments against Chelsea, Manchester City and West Ham, their FA Cup fifth round clash with Everton, and the return of the Europa League against Wolfsberger.

Speaking about his stricken star, Jose Mourinho said: “The second injury was worse than the first one. He was coping with one but couldn’t cope with both.

“For Harry to leave a game when the team is losing is not a nothing injury.

“There are some players you can’t replace. When it happens it happens, but I believe we have to fight against it, we cannot do anything else.

“Harry Kane is Harry Kane. There are players in some teams who are not replaceable.

“But one thing is to have like last season three or four attacking players all injured at the same time and another thing is to have just Harry Kane injured because we have other attacking players.”

Spurs will also be missing full-back Sergio Reguilon for a month, after the Spaniard sustained a muscle injury in training on Tuesday.
