Diogo Dalot says AC Milan pal Zlatan Ibrahimovic is helping him get over Man Utd hell but he still cheers on Red Devils

DIOGO DALOT says finally playing with Zlatan Ibrahimovic at AC Milan has given him the confidence boost he needed.

The Portuguese full-back has recaptured his form on-loan in Milan after falling out of favour at Manchester United.

And after missing out on the chance to play with Ibrahimovic during his two-year stint at the Red Devils, the 21-year-old has credited the Swedish international for bettering him.

He said: “He’s very demanding on ourselves.

“Ibra is always one of the first to come into the training ground.

“So these kinds of things help us to see that maybe we need to be as professional as him because, if you want to win as much as he won, you need to be doing this for a long time.

“He can give you the confidence when he thinks you need it.

“That sometimes means being brutally honest. – coming from him we need to listen.”

Despite his time at Old Trafford not going quite to plan, Dalot insists he is happy to see United top of the Premier League after their 2-1 win at Fulham.

The former Porto full-back added: “I am completely focused on what is going on here (in Milan).

“When I go home and I can rest, I can see Manchester games, Porto games and be happy with them, because they are winning and they are doing fantastic.”

Dalot has played 15 times since October and is a key part of a Milan defence that has not conceded in four of the last five games.

He added: “I’m a confident person. I know my qualities. I know what I can do, but then if you don’t play that’s not enough.

“Feeling the grass again, feeling the games again, winning games and playing 90 minutes – it’s been fantastic.”
