  • THAT’S ALL FOR TONIGHT

The football community coming together to support Marine IS and SHOULD be the story, it’s always nice to see some humanity!

    Goodnight!

  • VINI VIDI VICI

Plenty of us have imagined that if a Jose Mourinho team was playing in our back garden, we would draw the curtains.

Not so the back-garden army who watched from treetops, ladders, shed roofs and verandas as Tottenham ran riot at Marine’s Rossett Park.

There was even a cardboard cut-out of Jurgen Klopp peering over the fence of one of the houses which back on to the Merseyside home of the Northern Premier League Division One North West club.

But if the setting had been perfect for the quintessential FA Cup upset, then Mourinho’s men were in no mood to be the bumbling anti-heroes of some romantic comedy.

  • MOURINHO SPEAKS

Speaking after his team brushed aside non-league side Marine in the FA Cup, Mourinho praised 16-year-old Alfie Devine after the youngster scored on his debut.

Mourinho said: “Alfie is a good young player with good potential that came to the club only this summer.

“He was lucky enough to have pre-season with us which gave him a close contact with the first team. He’s not a stranger to us.

“Plays for various youth teams and sometimes comes to us to train. International youth players as well.

“So good progress. A player with instinctive runs into the finishing areas. We like him”

And on the topic of Dele Alli, he said: “I liked [Dele] very much. He and Gedson were responsible for our dynamic from the first minutes.

“Creating for us and causing problems for them and goals for us. Of course our creative players were a bit worried about the pitch.”

“At the end we were laughing about [which superstar] would be coming off the bench next.

“It would have been nice to get a goal. Neil hit the bar and James Joyce had a shot blocked, but once they went ahead they showed their class.
