Salah was prompted to act after learning that coronavirus victims were dying due to oxygen shortages in state hospitals.

The forward provided his lifesaving donation through the Nagrig Charity Association, which he founded in 2017.

NCA director Hassan Bakr told a Cairo radio station on Sunday: “Salah and his family have donated oxygen cylinders to the Basyoun Central Hospital to help coronavirus patients in Nagrig.

“He often intervenes in problems back in Egypt by donating.”

Salah has hit 16 goals in 23 games so far this season to help Jurgen Klopp’s reigning champions sit on top of the Premier League once more.

The 68-cap Egypt international has previously made a series of gifts to better the lives of his countrymen.

He provided the funds for Nagrig to have an ambulance station, girls’ school, sports facilities and a sewage treatment plant.

Salah donated tons of food to help Covid-hit residents last year.

And the former Roma man also helped rebuild Egypt’s bomb-hit national cancer institute, and construct a religious school.

His NCA regularly helps around 500 people, including widows, orphans, the sick and the elderly.
