Maxim Tsigalko dead at 37: Tributes paid to Championship Manager legend as Dinamo Minsk confirm his passing


CHAMPIONSHIP MANAGER icon Maxim Tsigalko has passed away, aged 37.

Tributes poured in after his former club Dinamo Minsk confirmed the news.

Maxim Tsigalko retired from football in 2010 due to ongoing injuries

A statement from Dinamo Minsk read: “Champion of Belarus, winner of the Cup of the country with Dynamo.

“We express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Maxim… eternal memory.”

Tsigalko played as a striker for Dinamo Minsk from 2001 until 2005.

The Belarus international chipped in with an impressive record of 28 goals in 65 appearances.

He then enjoyed spells with Naftan Novopolotsk, Kaisar, Banants and finally Savit Mogilev.

But the 6ft 1in forward was forced to retire in 2010 due to ongoing injuries.

Some fans know Tsigalko from the Championship Manager 2001-02 game.

He was one of the best players on the game due to his incredible finishing.

After the news of his passing was confirmed, tributes poured in on social media.

One fan said: “RIP to the Championship Manager legend #MaximTsigalko.”

Another added: “90s kids will never forget you legend RIP #MaximTsigalko.”

And one said: “RIP #MaximTsigalko. The best player in the history of all football manager games.”
