Chelsea boss Frank Lampard won’t sell Ross Barkley to Aston Villa after loan transfer following hot run of form

CHELSEA boss Frank Lampard will block Aston Villa’s attempted to sign Ross Barkley on a permanent deal, according to reports.

Stamford Bridge boss Frank Lampard is understood to have been impressed with the midfielder’s form on loan at Villa Park this season.

And the Blues manager, 42, is reported to have been in touch with the player to congratulate him on the quality of his performances.

Now, 90min claim Lampard sees a role for Barkley next term at Chelsea.

Barkley, 26, has been in red-hot form for the Midland giants who are enjoying an impressive start to the season and are currently seventh.

And the England ace’s midfield partnership with Jack Grealish has helped the Villans grab six wins in eight games including victories against Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal.

The former Toffees star, who has clocked up three goals and one assist in nine appearances across all competitions, could be given the chance to resurrect his career in Lampard’s team.

And the Three Lions midfielder, who suffered an injury during Villa’s loss to Brighton, also has a contract with the club that runs until 2023.

Earlier this season Sunsport reported Barkley had opted for a September move from West London in a bid to boost his England selection chances ahead of the Euros next year.

And with the summer arrivals of Kai Havertz and Hakim Zayech, first team starts for the midfield star looked like they could potentially be limited.

However, should Barkley’s solid performances for Aston Villa continue, it is thought Chelsea will be keen to retain the player’s services.

And it is reported the club, who spent over £200 million on strengthening their squad this summer, could look to do further business in the January transfer window.
