Liverpool star Diogo Jota loving playing in the ‘best team he has ever known’ after stunning Champions League hat-trick

DIOGO JOTA struck a stunning hat-trick to fire Liverpool to the brink of the knock-out stages – and admitted he is loving playing in the best team he has ever known.

Jota’s brilliant treble helped see off Atalanta and means he has struck seven goals in ten appearances since his shock £45million move from Wolves over the summer.

The 23-year-old said: “I’m playing in the best team in my career.

“Scoring goals, it’s my way of playing football.”

Jota is now fighting to be part of Jurgen Klopp’s preferred front free alongside fellow goalscorers Mo Salah and Sadio Mane- with Roberto Firmino at risk of losing his regular place.

The Portuguese star added: “They are two world class players, we all know that quality, and it makes it easier for me to do my job because they are outstanding players.

“We played a great game together.”

Reds boss Klopp claimed his front three were unstoppable on the form they showed to demolish their Serie A opponents.

Klopp said: “I don’t think any system could have defended against Sadio, Mo and Diogo, the way they played.

“My boys played an incredible game. Front line, defending and attacking, outstanding.

“You win the game five-nil, could score more goals but your goalie still has to make three world class saves, so everybody was involved.”

Liverpool now go into Sunday’s big clash with title rivals Manchester City on the back of their best performance of the season.

And Jota has warned Pep Guardiola’s side the defending champions WILL score.

He said: “It doesn’t happen so often to score five in one game. So I think that’s good, the clean sheet as well.

“If we can keep a clean sheet against City, I’m pretty sure we will win the game.”
