Jordan Pickford ‘set for crisis talks with Carlo Ancelotti’ after latest major blunder in Brighton win

JORDAN PICKFORD will reportedly have crisis talks with Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti after yet ANOTHER blunder.

The Mail on Sunday reports the England No1 will sit down with his Italian coach after a howler in Everton’s 4-2 win over Brighton on Saturday.

Pickford, 26, who was already in the bad books after two gaffes against Fleetwood in the Carabao Cup, fumbled a bouncing ball allowing Neal Maupay to equalise for the Seagulls.

Former Chelsea boss Ancelotti stopped short of publicly slamming his man between the sticks but did warn there will be a chat between the pair.

He said: “I think this is not the right place to talk about Jordan Pickford.

“If I have to say something to him when he comes back, I am going to talk to him.

“‘He did a mistake but nothing happened. We have three points more. This is the most important part.”

Pickford’s blushes were spared by his team-mates as Everton roared to the top of the Premier League – at least temporarily.

The former Sunderland keeper slipped up after 41 minutes to cancel out new international team-mate Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s sixth goal in just four Prem games.

But dancing Colombian maestro James Rodriguez bagged a brace and crossed in for Yerry Mina’s header in first-half stoppage time to save the day for this season’s surprise high flyers.

Gareth Southgate must be considering a change in goal with Pickford now having made 11 mistakes leading to goals in the league since arriving on Merseyside in 2017 – more than any other keeper in the same time.

But No2 Nick Pope did not cover himself in glory by giving away a penalty as Burnley were thumped 3-1 by Newcastle.

Manchester United’s Dean Henderson is another man in the Three Lions queue and both could be used during England’s fixture triple-header against Wales, Belgium and Denmark next week.
