Ansu Fati set to sign new Barcelona deal with £365m release clause with 17-year-old set for more first-team chances

BARCELONA wonderkid Ansu Fati is on the brink of signing a new deal with an amazing £365MILLION release clause.

The 17-year-old Spain sensation, born in Guinea-Bissau, is reported to have agreed a new long-term contract keeping him at the Nou Camp.

Tying down Fati – whose current deal runs out in 2022 – will be a huge relief to Barca bosses including president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

The club’s civil war with Lionel Messi has only just ended after he agreed to stay despite handing in a transfer request.

Keeping Fati where he is – despite the interest of Manchester United – shows the club are still of huge appeal to players and have a blueprint for the future.

Mundo Deportivo say left winger Fati will put pen to paper on his first first-team deal in an agreement brokered by agent Jorge Mendes.

The contract is the icing on the cake after an incredible year in which he scored seven goals in 24 LaLiga appearances.

He has gone from youth team to first-team star and last week became Spain’s youngest ever goalscorer aged 17 years and 311 days.

National boss Luis Enrique was blown away by Fati, who netted the third in a 4-0 thrashing of Ukraine.

Speaking of the teenager, Enrique said: “It’s not normal for him to have this spark and self-confidence at this age.”

The only surprise is that it took Barcelona so long to offer him the deal.

After all, he already made history this season as the youngest ever Champions League goalscorer when he scored against Inter in December.

And he is the youngest ever Barcelona goalscorer.

The signs were there too, after Fati was last season called up to train with the first team while still not having played for the B-team.

A regular spot in the starting XI now looks like something that simply has to happen.

Asked about the prospect of more playing time under Ronald Koeman, Fati said: “I will keep training as hard as I can and if I get an opportunity I will take it.”
