And Batshuayi, who has already spent time at Selhurst Park, gave eager Eagles fans another glimpse of his talent as he helped Belgium overcome an early scare in Tuesday’s Nations League clash.

Iceland were feeling confident after almost snatching a point off England at the weekend.

And they got off to an incredible start when Holmbert Fridjonsson scored a captivating freak goal from distance with just ten minutes on the clock.

But Belgium did not let their heads drop and found an equaliser through Borussia Dortmund midfielder Axel Witsel moments later.

Batshuayi then put Belgium ahead in the 17th minute after being handed a rare start up front in place of Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku.

Belgium, who finished the match with 75 per cent possession and 784 completed passes to Iceland’s 258, took full control in the 50th minute when Napoli forward Dries Mertens made it 3-1.

But Batshuayi was not finished yet and popped up with a world-class backwards-flick finish in the 69th minute for his second of the game.

Teenage Anderlecht forward Jeremy Doku, who only made his debut in the weekend win against Denmark, scored his first international goal ten minutes later to end the game 5-1.

Belgium’s result saw them go clear at the top of Group 2 in the Nations League, with England only able to draw with Denmark.

Roberto Martinez and Gareth Southgate’s men meet next month in a highly-anticipated match at Wembley.

But Belgium are sure to utilise Real Madrid superstar Eden Hazard against the Three Lions after he was left as an unused sub in both the Denmark and Iceland games.
