Yet the report adds that the 32-year-old’s £6.6million per season salary could prove a sticking point in any negotiations.
Higuain has just a year left on his deal with the Old Lady.
He proved an important figure under Maurizio Sarri last season, scoring eight goals in 32 league appearances.
But the forward had been farmed out on loan in successive seasons to AC Milan and Stamford Bridge in the two years before that.
And he is said to have accepted the arrival of Andrea Pirlo is likely to see the club move in a different direction.
Higuain’s brother Federico is already in the MLS after he joined Wayne Rooney’s former side DC United back in March as both a player and coach.
And Gonzalo opened the door to joining his sibling in America last month once his Juventus contract expires.

Speaking to Fox Sports, he said: “For now I’m fine, I’ll rest and think.
“On the 24th I go back to training, I still have one year on my contract in Italy.
“I have to introduce myself, see what happens with the new manager because there will certainly be a different dynamic.

Higuain would follow former Juve teammate Blaise Matuidi should he make the switch to Beckham’s Inter Miami.
The midfielder joined the Manchester United legend’s new MLS outfit on a free transfer after having his Juve contract terminated last month.
But Miami have been left reeling by a snub from Mario Gotze, who was approached after leaving Borussia Dortmund.
