Chelsea ‘complete Thiago Silva transfer’ as ex-PSG star ‘signs contract’ amid plans for him to be made club captain

THIAGO SILVA has “signed” his Chelsea contract today, reports claim.

The Brazilian made his 315th and final appearance for Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday, as they fell to Bayern Munich in the Champions League final.

And despite the French champions performing a late u-turn in trying to offer him a new deal, Silva has decided that it’s time for a new challenge.

Chelsea had been negotiating with the out-of-contract 35-year-old’s representatives for a number of days even before the final in Lisbon.

And according to Fabrizio Romano, the deal is now done and an announcement is imminent.

Frank Lampard will expect Silva, who turns 36 next month, to add excellent leadership qualities to his young squad.

And Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte even claim that the Chelsea boss will make the former PSG and AC Milan skipper his captain.

It’s been a busy summer for Chelsea transfer supremo Marina Granovskaia.

Following the arrivals of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner earlier in the summer, the Blues today announced the £50million signing of Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell on a five-year deal.

And the moves are unlikely to stop there, with a stunning £90m swoop for Kai Havertz also set to go ahead in the coming days.

Former OGC Nice defender Malang Sarr, 21, is another Ligue 1 defender set to join Chelsea on a free transfer.

But the Frenchman will head out on loan after penning a five-year deal.
