DEAN HENDERSON has signed a new five-year £120,000-a-week contract at Manchester United.
The Englishman has signed on the dotted line after his loan spell at Sheffield United last season and is aiming to wrestle the No1 jersey from David De Gea.

David De Gea has been heavily criticised this season and Henderson is targeting his No1 jersey
The deal has the option of an extra year.
And the 23-year-old will not head out on loan next season – instead aiming to become Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s No1.
England goalkeeper Henderson only signed a new £60k-a-week deal last year and the new contract shows Solskjaer wants intense competition in the goalkeeping department.
It also means United will be splashing out £570k-a-week just on keepers, with Spaniard De Gea earning £350,000 a week, Sergio Romero on £70k and Lee Grant on £30k.
A United statement read: “Manchester United are delighted to announce that Dean Henderson has signed a new contract, which will keep him at the club until June 2025, with the option to extend for a further year.
“Henderson, who has been named in the England squad for the upcoming September internationals, is a product of United’s academy and has been at the club since the age of 14.
“The goalkeeper kept 13 clean sheets in the Premier League last season, the joint-third highest in the division, and was nominated for the Premier League Young Player of the Season award.”
Henderson had another standout campaign on loan at the Blades.
He was rewarded by Gareth Southgate with his first England call up yesterday.
SunSport exclusively revealed the United academy product’s representatives had been in talks with Old Trafford chiefs over the last few weeks.
Henderson said: “The pathway I have been on for the past five years has been fantastic for my development and the invaluable loan period at Sheffield United has been part of that.
“The goalkeeping department at United is excellent.
“There are three top-level goalkeepers who have achieved so much in the game and I look forward to working with the group.
“The faith the manager and the club have shown in me with this contract means a lot to me and will continue my progression as a goalkeeper.
“I’ll be giving everything to improve every day so that I can play as many games as possible for this great club.
“Now I am looking forward to joining up with the England squad and then preparing for the season ahead.”
Solskjaer said: “We are delighted Dean has signed his new contract. He had another great season at Sheffield United, where he gained a lot of experience and grew both as a player and a person.
“Dean is a fantastic young keeper with the attitude and work-rate to keep improving every day.
“We are in a strong position within the goalkeeping department and that gives us the competition for places that we are looking for in the squad.
“Dean is another great example of the type of player who has come through the academy and truly understands what it means to be at Manchester United.
“We are all looking forward to working with Dean and continuing to develop his talent.”
SunSport understands there had been interest in Henderson from Chelsea, but no official approach was made.
De Gea, 29, recently defended his position as United’s goalkeeper after insisting: “I am still the No1.
“I trust in myself. I have shown my qualities all the years. So I will just stay available for the manager.
“I’m always ready to play and try to help the team, as I have always done.”
