It ended a seven-year European drought, having last won a continental tournament in the 2012-13 season.

In winning the 2019-20 Champions League, Bayern took their European trophy count to nine, having also won one Uefa Cup, Super Cup and Cup Winners’ Cup apiece.

But they’re still miles adrift of the most-successful club in European history, Real Madrid.

Los Blancos have won a staggering 19 European trophies thanks to an astonishing 13 Champions League wins.

The LaLiga champions have also won two Uefa Cups and four Super Cup crowns.

AC Milan and Barcelona are the joint-second-most successful club, having won 14 trophies in Europe apiece.

The Italians, though, have won more Champions League trophies with seven to Barca’s five.

Liverpool sit fourth with 11 European gongs, including six Champions Leagues – most-recently in the 2018-19 triumph.

Bayern and Juventus sit joint fifth on nine trophies in European competitions.

Elsewhere amongst English clubs, Manchester United and Chelsea sit level-tenth alongside Inter Milan with six trophies in Europe.

United have won three Champions League titles – the same as Inter – while Chelsea have just one.

Only Ajax, Atletico Madrid and Europa League specialists Sevilla sit above them.
