THE SFA and SPFL have both launched disciplinary cases against the eight Aberdeen players who were flouted coronavirus AND Celtic quarantine-breaker Boli Bolingoli.
After discussions with Government, the Joint Response Group said it was firming up its procedures against players who stepped out of line.
Bolingoli has almost certainly played his last match as a Celtic player – with French Ligue 2 outfit Amiens linked with a loan, move with an option to buy, which could take him off their hands immediately.
But in the short term both the Aberdeen eight, who were spotted in a pub, and Celtic’s Belgian left-back will face an SFA hearing on August 28.
The hearing will consider whether they brought the game into disrepute and failed to comply with the laws of the game.
The list of sanctions, if found guilty of the SFA charges, range from suspensions of two, four or eight games with the ultimate penalty being expulsion from the Scottish game.
The SPFL is taking its own concurrent disciplinary action against the same nine men and could punish them separately for breaching coronavirus guidlines.
A statement read in full: “Further to yesterday’s Joint Response Group update outlining a range of measures agreed with the Scottish Government to reinforce Scottish football’s commitment to public health and adherence to protocols, the Scottish FA and SPFL have commenced the following disciplinary procedures:
“Scottish FA Disciplinary Tribunal Update:
“Alleged Parties in Breach: Jonny Hayes, Scott McKenna, Sam Cosgrove, Craig Bryson, Bruce Anderson, Dylan McGeouch, Matty Kennedy and Michael Devlin (Aberdeen FC).
“Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo (Celtic FC).
“Disciplinary Rules allegedly breached: Disciplinary Rule 24 – A recognised football body, club, official, Team Official or other member of Team Staff, player, match official or other person under the jurisdiction of the Scottish FA shall be subject to and shall comply with the Articles, the Laws of the Game and the rules, procedures and regulations, bye-laws and Decisions of the Scottish FA.
“Disciplinary Rule 71 – No recognised football body, club, official, Team Official or other member of Team Staff, player, match official, or other person under the jurisdiction of the Scottish FA shall bring the game into disrepute.

“SPFL Disciplinary Proceedings – Aberdeen FC and Celtic FC
“Following investigation, the SPFL has opened separate disciplinary proceedings against each of Aberdeen FC and Celtic FC for alleged breaches of the SPFL’s Covid-19 – Requirements and Testing Regulation.
“There will be no further comment pending the outcome of these disciplinary proceedings.”
