PSG ready to snub ‘dream’ Cristiano Ronaldo transfer to focus on new Mbappe and Neymar deals despite long-term interest

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN look set to turn their backs on a stunning summer bid for Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo

The Ligue 1 champions, who have been after the 35-year-old’s signature for almost a decade, are rumoured to have been pondering a move to bring the Portugal skipper to France.

However, ESPN claim the club are reportedly leaning towards extending the contracts of Kylian Mbappe, and the world’s most expensive footballer Neymar instead.

Both players have deals to keep them at the club until at least 2022.

And reports suggest PSG officials have prioritised efforts to seal extensions on their star attackers’ contracts before turning their attention towards new transfers.

Earlier this week incredible claims in French media suggested Ronaldo had come close to joining PSG before the Covid-19 lockdown.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who joined Juventus from Real Madrid in a £88million 2018 move, had dreams of playing alongside Brazil star Neymar and France striker Mbappe, according to ESPN.

And the former Manchester United star is reported to have been a top target for PSG’s owners Qatar Sports Investment.

QSI had hoped to make Ronaldo a marquee signing on a number of occasions.

This includes a rumoured bid in 2014 when the then Real Madrid star helped the La Liga giants to La Decima, the club’s tenth European cup.

It would seem Ronaldo appears publically unfazed by speculation linking him with a move away from Juve to Paris.

Earlier this week on Instagram the Portugal star hailed the return of this season’s yet to be completed Champion’s League contest.

In his post Ronaldo shared a caption which read: “The beautiful competition is back. #forzajuve.

Reports claim Ronaldo, who has two years remaining on his current contract with Juventus, is eager to win a Champion’s League trophy with the Serie A title holders.

The Italian giants will play Lyon behind closed doors at Juventus  in the second leg of their round 16 tie in the competition.

And the club, who are unbeaten in their last two home European games against the French side, need to overturn a one-nil loss from the first leg.
