Zidane insists him and Gareth Bale ‘are united’ amid reports Real Madrid are ready to let outcast winger leave for free

ZINEDINE ZIDANE says him and Gareth Bale are “united” amid reports linking the Welshman with a Real Madrid exit this summer.

There has been tension reported between the pair for months with Zidane previously saying it would be better if the ex-Tottenham man left.

Bale has been linked with a move away this summer

Bale was pictured trolling Zidane again on Monday by clowning around on the bench during Real’s win over Granada – pretending his sock tape was binoculars.

And he had fans roaring with delight on Friday as he used his face mask to jokingly pretend he was having a quick nap as he watched his team-mates beat Alaves.

But despite the fact the Welshman hasn’t played a single minute of Real’s last five games, Zidane hit back at suggestions of a rift between the pair.

Responding to a query about Bale’s future, the Frenchman said: “Madre mia, this question eh.

“I’m not saying anything… you try to put things between us but you won’t be able to.

“Every day you ask the same. You can do it, you have the right to ask what you want. But we’re united. Gareth, James [Rodriguez], everyone.”

Despite Zidane’s attempt to present a united front, Spanish reports claimed earlier today Los Blancos are “ready to rip up Bale’s contract with two years left” and let him leave on a free this summer.

Yesterday SunSport explored Bale’s Bernabeu career including the high of winning the Champions League and the low of being frozen out by Zidane.

The Spanish media have been quick to parody Bale’s “golfer” persona.

But the £350,000-a-week star does not seem to care what they think though, with potentially only a handful of games left in his seven-year stay in the Spanish capital.

Real look set to land their first LaLiga title since 2017 as they sit four points clear of Barcelona with just two games to play.
