Chelsea to wear new 2020-21 home kit against West Ham tonight after sponsorship with Yokohama Tyres runs out

CHELSEA will wear their new 2020-21 home kit against West Ham tonight – and there is a big change on the front of the shirt.

The Blues’ £200million sponsorship deal with Yokohama Tyres has ended.

Telecommunications company Three have filled that void and have their logo pride of place on the jerseys – which were revealed on hoardings at Stamford Bridge a couple days ago.

The Nike kit is inspired by Savile Row and London’s association with master tailors, say the sportswear giant.

A press release said: “The kit is a blend of the latest in athletic innovation with the finesse of fine London tailoring.

“The Blues’ new home jersey ventures into the realm of statement shirting: a luscious, textured, modern classic with the city’s rich fashion heritage woven in, wholly befitting the capital’s most stylish club.”

Striker Tammy Abraham agreed. He added: “The kit is really, really smart – very Chelsea.

“You can see the story behind the kit with how it looks and all the little touches that remind you of a good suit.”

Fans were split on the design though.

One said: “Extremely clean kit. Thank god Nike put a proper collar on it and black trim.”

But a fellow Chelsea fan wrote: “Ugh, I won’t be buying this season I guess.”

Another commented: “Worst kit ever made.”

One post read: “Rubbish.”

Chelsea’s new deal with Three is for three years until 2022-23 and part of the agreement is that Stamford Bridge will be 5G-enabled within the first year of the partnership.

Yokohama are not cutting ties completely with Frank Lampard’s side.

They will remain as the club’s Official Global Tyre Partner, say Sport Business.

Lamps has warned Chelsea star Mason Mount to put his close friendship with Irons ace Declan Rice – a Blues target – on hold for tonight’s clash.

He said: “There is only one thing I will ask of Mason — and from my point of view that is obviously all I care about going into this one.

“He texts him [Rice], he smiles at him in the tunnel or whatever, but if and when they go up against each other he has to try to beat him in every individual battle that he can.

“And sensing Declan Rice’s character, I am sensing they will both be like-minded on that one. We will see.”

The shirt is available July 9 from nike.com.
