Newcastle ‘ready to smash transfer record with £121m offer for Ciro Immobile’ as Saudis look for marquee signing

NEWCASTLE are reportedly ready to break the bank in a move for Serie A top scorer Ciro Immobile.

A bid totalling £121million is being put together for the 30-year-old Lazio striker, according to reports in Italy.

With the Toon hoping to finally seal the deal on a £300m takeover of the club by a Saudi Arabian-led consortium, many expect a huge spending spree to follow.

And La Gazzetta dello Sport name Immobile as their latest target.

Should the takeover go through, they believe Newcastle will bid £50m for the Italian international, who has 27 goals in Serie A this season.

He will then be offered a £71m five-year contract, worth £275,000-a-week, to make the move to Tyneside.

A similar long-term deal, worth roughly half that, is thought to be on the table at Lazio.

The Aquile have enjoyed a fantastic season with Immobile leading a title challenge against reigning champions Juventus.

Even if that bid fails, they should at least have Champions League football to offer their star forward next season after over a decade away from the competition.

Newcastle are said to be prioritising their attack in the event they are able to splash the cash this summer.

Philippe Coutinho and Xherdan Shaqiri are just two names featuring in rumours around the club.

Securing a new centre-forward is also thought to be a priority after the difficult debut campaign experienced by £40m record signing Joelinton, who has just three goals to his name.
