The clip – which claims to be from 1983 – shows legendary trainer Cus D’Amato watching on from the side up in the Catskill Mountains of New York.
Despite Tyson’s tender years, he was still able to deliver his trademark power blows as he showed his class against the experienced Clark.
Commenting on the footage, one fan said: “Jimmy Clark was a professional boxer at this time. His record was 18-1. Think about that.”
Another quipped: “When you walk in to the gym and your manager says ‘We want you to spar this kid named Mike Tyson.”
A third added: “Mike Tyson at 17 was better than most heavyweights in their prime.”
One simply stated: “I am so grateful I got to watch this.”
Just three years after this spar took place, Tyson became the world heavyweight champion at the age of 20 after he stopped Trevor Berbick in the second round.
