Anthony Joshua wears leg brace as Brit champ heads out on electric scooter with pals during lockdown break in London

ANTHONY JOSHUA has been snapped wearing a leg brace while riding an electric scooter with pals during a break from lockdown in London.

The WBA, WBO and IBF world heavyweight champ had his left leg strapped from thigh to ankle as he soaked up the weekend sunshine.

Commenting on the brace, a source said: “Anthony felt a slight twinge in his knee while training.

“The brace is a precautionary measure on the advice of physios.

“It will be further checked by his doctors but there is no immediate concern.”

Joshua’s movement while out in London did not look to be hampered in any way despite the precaution as he zoomed round on a scooter.

Smiling AJ took in the capital’s sights, including Marble Arch near Hyde Park, where hordes of people flocked with the sun out.

Though AJ was careful not to break any social distancing rules with the government allowing up to six people to meet outside.

Joshua, who has not fought since winning his rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr last December, was pictured laughing with friends on his day out.

And despite his worldwide superstar fame, he appeared to be able to go out about his downtime in relative peace.

The heavyweight – who recently praised the NHS for their work during coronavirus – even raised in his fist in a triumphant pose for one photo as he raced round on the scooter.

But when we will next see that in the ring remains to be seen.

Joshua, 30, has never struggled with a serious leg injury during his career.

But before his epic fight against Wladimir Klitschko in April 2017, Joshua did complain of walking “doubled over” after a Thai massage.

He said: “Two weeks before the Wladimir Klitschko fight, I went for a Thai massage and the lady pulled my arm down by my leg and it cramped my back.

“Two weeks before the biggest fight of my life, I swear I was walking doubled over.”

Joshua recently opened up to SunSport about how he seemingly has it all in life – apart from someone to share it with.

And in a world exclusive interview, he also discussed his determination to knock out Tyson Fury.

AJ said: “I think you can date and still be a successful sportsman but it’s hard to find a balance and I would have to compromise — which I’ve not felt able to do.

“My dad never gave me advice about much. But in terms of relationships what I have learnt and what I tell my son is, it would be nice to find a high school sweetheart and to grow together because as you get older you get set in your ways.

“For me to have a relationship now means I would have to compromise and change my ways and I don’t know how easy that would be for me to do.

“So I do date but I don’t get to the stage where I actually put anyone into that position.

“I don’t have a girlfriend and I haven’t had one for a while. But as I get older I do think it would be nice to have someone, someone to grow with as well — but I honestly haven’t found anyone.”

Despite Joshua and Fury holding all the world heavyweight title belts, it is the possible return of Mike Tyson that has dominated headlines.

Fury says he accepted an offer to fight the 53-year-old – but Joshua has no intention of stepping into the ring with The Baddest Man on the Planet.

Asked if he would step in the ring with the Tyson, Joshua told SunSport: “With all due respect I wouldn’t.

“Even if I fought Iron Mike and beat him, I think I’d be the only one cheering. People would boo. He is a legend. He is the greatest boxer of the modern era.

“There are only two recognised champions the world knows of, Ali and Mike Tyson — the most recognised faces in the world when it comes to boxing.”
