Useless cook Balotelli jokes he was forced to eat ‘CARDBOARD and bite chunks out of the wall’ in lockdown

USELESS cook Mario Balotelli has joked he was forced to eat CARDBOARD and bite chunks out of the wall to feed himself during lockdown.

The Italian star, 29, is preparing to return to training with Serie A side Brescia on May 18, but admitted his lockdown was difficult.

Balotelli said he was “totally alone” with his family scattered across Europe, meaning his diet took a hit, while admitting he is going to be very rusty back in training.

Speaking on Instagram Live, Balotelli said: “If you pass me the ball now, I am not able to get it under control with a first touch.

“It’s been two months since I touched the ball.

“I was going crazy the last couple of weeks, because I was totally alone.

“My daughter is in Naples, my son is in Zurich, my mother is of a certain age and needs to be protected, my brothers are in quarantine with their children…

“So I was left by myself. It was tough.

“It’s impossible to train properly if you don’t have a running machine, so even though it wasn’t really allowed, I went to the park near me to do a little running.”

DRIVEN UP THE WALL

And the Italian revealed being all by himself was particularly difficult due to his shoddy cooking skills.

Balotelli added: “I was basically eating cardboard and trying to bite chunks out of the wall for the first three days, as I can’t cook anything.

“Fortunately, I then managed to get food delivered.”

Serie A games are set to restart on June 13 – the same weekend as the Premier League – with matches to be played behind closed doors.

And Balotelli’s Brescia will have an almighty fight on their hands when they get back on the pitch, currently sitting dead last in the table, staring relegation in the face.

The Italian side have picked up just 16 points from their 26 games and sit nine points off safety with 12 to play.

Earlier in the lockdown, Balotelli showed off his skills with a small ball on his balcony.

But more recently, he’s been involved in a series of spats – going toe-to-toe with Giorgio Chiellini, while being branded a “disgrace” by former team-mates Rickie Lambert.
